Subject: Fall Creek Falls 30th Mountaineer Folk Festival

Dear Artists / Crafters & Guild Members & Friends,

On behalf of the Friends of Fall Creek Falls you are cordially invited to attend and/or participate in the Parks 30th Annual Mountaineer Folk Festival, a successful annual crafting event held at Fall Creek Falls State Park on September 5 - 7th, 2008.

This event brings crafters and buyers from around the entire U.S. Although we try to focus on local artisians and craft people who have influenced this area through their traditional & unique hand made items we welcome everyone with handmade / original pieces. Space is limited, so apply early to secure your spot.

Also, according to USA Today (April 25th, 2008 / 2-D) with the high cost of gas many travelers will be styaing closer to home and exploring state parks and lesser-known cities & attractions. Fall Creek Falls State Park is a definite popular vacation site and continues to improve and grow!

Attached is the application for crafters/artists as well as the current poster (flyer) being used to promote the event locally. Do not hesitate to contact me directly for questions or more information on this event.

Sincerely,

k. deNise Moore, Director - "Friends"

Yoga Apparel Design Considerations for breast cancer Victors

Dear Yoga Enthusiasts/Students/Teachers, I have been practicing yoga for only a short time. I started as some know, prior to my diagnosis of advanced breast cancer and continued through the present with my practice. However, as I begin to practice less in private and more in a public or group settings I have encountered an interesting and somewhat unique problem. My attempts to "look" normal are awkward at best. My entire wardrobe does not accommodate the radical mastectomy of my left breast nor are there many options for many of us that clothing lines will accommodate this need. Of course there are bras available that silicon breast(s) can slide into -- but I was unable to find anything to accommodate my yoga workout. I typically wear three (3) tops. One to hold the stuffing in place discretely and the others to hide the indention of my chest as I bend and stretch. Those who know my situation are very kind and understanding - lovingly tease me and tell me if my "fluffy boob" falls out, they will just let me know..."breast overboard." LOL However, that does not work as well in situations where people do not know my complete story, and for obvious reasons, I do not want to embarrass myself or bystanders through this oddity! It is my hope that eventually the society we live in will accommodate everyone of its members, not just the purchasing power of the majority. I would love the opportunity to wear yoga clothes that were made to enhance beauty and detract from differences. For me personally, I wish it were not a stigma or eye sore for other mastectomy survivors(or those who use prosthetics)to venture out (a la natural) without the fear of rejection. No one wants to lose a part of their body (internal or external), but when and if it happens how and where do they go to pick up the pieces of their life-- starting with clothing but who knows where it will go. Any feedback or input would be greatly appreciated. As I mentioned, most of my friends accept me as is - but I am trying to acclimatise myself back into the world and I wear my yoga clothing a large portion of that time. dN
